It's really an honor to tell an afternoon of your story. If you are shy, that probably means you have a heart of gold and are exactly who I would love to work with. Thank you for making space in your life for me and making me feel so special.
As soon as we start the communication, we are talking about your vision right away. I encourage my clients to think about their inspiration as well as any specific ideas they have for the shoot. I take that information and I create and experience around their desires, working in as many of my clients ideas as possible, always collaborating for the best combination of their vision and its execution.
All sessions include a link to your own private, online gallery where you can view and download your high resolution images. You can order prints and products through me, or at the lab of your choice.
The first thing we do is schedule your shoot date and time. I will need info such as your name, school, email address, cell phone number.
I would like to have a short phone chat with you a day or two before the shoot to talk about the style of photos that you like and if you have any ideas of your own. I would also like to check out any outfits that you have picked out and suggest locations.
If you do your own make-up, make sure that it is very clean. No cakey mascara or heavy eyeliner. Refrain from using cream based highlighters. i highly recommend a facial a week before your shoot. Not only does it brighten your face, it vacuums out any blackheads and reduces any acne. When I edit, I like to preserve the skin texture as much as possible and a facial would help that process.
About 1/2 of the girls do their own hair because they like it a certain way. If you have longer hair, I like it to be able to have some movement if we are outside or if I put a fan in front of you. I don't worry about it so much..... not like back in my high school days when we used a half-a-can of extra hold hair spray LOL! Ask your mom.
My photos tend to have a fashion magazine look to them. Bring a good variety of outfits, shoes, jewelry. I love hats and great accessories such as belts, scarves, if thats you. Don't be afraid to look at sites like Pinterest, for inspiration and ideas. Don't be afraid to try on your outfits in front of the mirror and see how they move as you move. I will give you plenty of direction during the shoot.
Clean and/or polished nails in a pink or neutral color is recommended. Your hands and toes will be in the photos.
A little bit of a healthy glow is ok, but please don't do a lot of tanning/spray tanning prior to your session. The camera reads a deep tan or burn as screaming orange. Not good.
I will shoot several photos of the whole family, as well as , individual photos of each child.nI would suggest neutral colors. Mixing textures and patterns looks great in photos. I shoot for fun and beautiful. My photos have a lot of movement which i believe brings images to life. I will of course get great portraits your you more posed, but I will ask you to forget about the camera and interact with your your family. If you have a beautiful home, an amazing backyard, a chair you love, a blanket that your grandmother made for you, I encourage you to let me know, to include in a few of the images.
We will schedule your session around your child's nap time which will make for a happy kid! A variety of clothes, in neutral, grey, as well as color and texture, vintage is great too! With younger kids, I always suggest a helper ( your mother!)and an entertainer (usually the dad takes on that role lol). Kids will take great images if we keep it playful.
Just let them know you are going out to meet a friend ( meeeee!). Leave the rest up to me and please don't say cheeeeese lol. If we skip that part and get on a play mode, your children will give us the most genuine smiles, because they will be having fun, so next time they see a camera they won't run away!
